Domestic abuse

There are concerns about the increased risk of domestic abuse during the current period of self isolation.

The Keeping Bristol Safe Partnership have produced a guide for GPs on how to spot and manage this particularly when assessing patients remotely:

Practice briefing on how to respond to Domestic Abuse during Covid-19.

There is now a freephone, 24 hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline number – 0808 2000 247 – run by @RefugeCharity. #YouAreNotAlone campaign assets can be accessed here.

Please also see the Domestic Violence and Abuse page.

The IRIS team have been in touch to urge you to continue to ask your patients in your telephone consultations if they are experiencing/have experienced abuse, whether they feel unsafe or afraid in their homes, and whether they would be willing to have support from our service.
